Performing on 18 June 2014 are Michael Carenbauer (guitar) and Bill Huntington (upright bass), two of Arkansas's most distinguished and respected musicians. Carenbauer serves as Director of Guitar Studies (jazz/classical/pop) for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock; his profile (provided in the faculty section at www.ualr.edu/music) includes a performance degree in jazz guitar from Boston's prestigious Berklee College, where he studied with Pat Matheny. Huntington (who was still playing guitar in 1960 when Down Beat featured him as "the recapitulation of the history of jazz itself") taught in the Jazz Studies departments at Loyola University and the University of New Orleans for more than a quarter-century; he has played/toured/recorded with dozens of internationally recognized jazz greats (including Ellis Marsalis for the decade before Hurricane Katrina, which caused Huntington to relocate to Arkansas in 2005).
