On 21 October 2013, The Afterthought's Monday Jazz will feature the accomplished quintet led by saxophonist John Bush and including vocalist Kelley Hurt, pianist Chris Parker, bassist Bill Huntington, and percussionist Brian Withers. Other accomplished jazz artists may be invited to sit in.

Every Monday (8-11 pm), live jazz is presented to a diverse, multigenerational audience at The Afterthought. Details about each week's featured performers are posted to the Facebook page for the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation. The Afterthought (located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood) is the only Little Rock venue which has presented live jazz continuously (at least once a week) since the 1970s. The club and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) which served as the town hall for Pulaski Heights before its 1916 annexation by Little Rock. The club's longstanding commitment to jazz earned The Afterthought a citation in the first print edition of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Music, published in September 2013 by the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies/Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture.
