Each Monday evening (8-11 pm) a diverse, multigenerational audience enjoys live jazz at The Afterthought. A full menu (shown at www.afterthoughtbistroandbar.com) is available in the club during normal hours for its adjoining restaurant. Featured performers for 20 January 2014 are members of The Goat Band (Arkansas Repertory Theatre's house band): Barry McVinney (winds), Steve Hudelson (guitar), Brian Wolverton (upright bass), Patrick Lindsey (drums). Other accomplished jazz musicians may be invited to sit in.

The Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation/Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame holds its weekly meet-and-greet during Monday Jazz at The Afterthought because it is the only Little Rock venue which has presented live jazz continuously (at least once a week) since the 1970s. (That distinction earned the iconic club a place on the map in the first print edition of the Encyclopedia of Arkansas Music, published in September 2013 by the Central Arkansas Library System's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies.) Located in the historic Hillcrest neighborhood and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Afterthought and its adjoining restaurant occupy a building which served as the town hall for Pulaski Heights before its 1916 annexation by Little Rock....
