International solo piano concert featuring Beata Hlavenková and Evelina De Lain at Jazzlive at The Crypt

Two remarkable pianists exploring contemporary composition and piano play one set each for this special event. The Prague based pianist and composer Beata Hlavenková performs her latest album "Theodoros", dedicated to her second son Theodor Eli and composed over the course of one year, one composition per calendar month. Combining minimalism, French impressionism and modern jazz technique, Beata demonstrates a spellbinding appreciation of balance expressed through the neatness of her phrasing and the interweaving of melodic ideas.

BEATA HLAVENKOVÁ (1978) a Czech pianist, composer, arranger and producer, is widely recognized as one of the most sought-after and genre free musicians. She graduated in composition from the Janaček Conservatory in Ostrava in 1998 and mastered in composition, jazz composition and arrangement at the University of Massachusetts in 2004. Nominated for a Czech “Grammy Award” for her first album Joy for Joel (2009), she won the award twice for her collaborative projects with Lenka Dusilova Eternal Seekers (2008) and Baromantika (2011), winning The Best Czech Jazz and Blues Album of 2013 for her second independent project, Theodoros (Animal Music, 2013), which also received top honours in the Concept Album category at the 14th annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs). www.beatahlavenkova.com...

Virtuoso pianist and composer Evelina De Lain is a unique and multi-faceted artist, effectively blending classical performance, contemporary classical composition and jazz interpretation into an innovative and compelling concert style. A radiant and strong performer. With Diploma from Dnipropetrovsk Conservatoire, Evelina performs classical recitals with the same ease as jazz and contemporary concerts.
