Three Nations Under One Groove at Blackheath Halls

The UK’s National Youth Jazz Orchestra joins forces with its German (BuJazzO) and Dutch (NJJO) counterparts for an evening of exceptional music-making from the leading lights of Europe’s next generation of jazz musicians. The programme will present the unique jazz dialects of each country, featuring the music of the Kurt Edelhagan Orchestra (Germany), contemporary Dutch composer Anton Goudsmit, and music written and arranged by NYJO musicians and MD Mark Armstrong that explores the breadth of the modern British jazz orchestra sound.

On the back of a joint tour of Germany and the Netherlands in September 2018, the three big bands bring the spirit of collaboration to the Halls in the week after Brexit, as they come together to promote the importance of European cultural exchange as three nations under one groove....
