While you may not necessarily recognise the name of bandleader and guitarist Mitch Dalton or his bandmates Dave Arch (keyboards), Steve Pearce (bass) and Ian Thomas (drums), collectively their accomplishments on record as well as live are awe inspiring – to call them a “super group” is an understatement. In addition to playing with jazz legends including Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter and hitmakers from Robbie Williams to Marc Almond, Mitch’s immaculate guitar work can be heard on high-profile film soundtracks including the James Bond franchise as well as a myriad number of commercials and TV programmes. Dave Arch, the Musical Director of Strictly Come Dancing (the UK’s No. 1 TV show), is a regular at the 606 as part of the Tommy Blaize Band, but was also among other stellar credits, the featured pianist on the Oscar-winning “The King’s Speech” and is highly in demand for his orchestration and arranging skills, which have been put to good use on behalf of a variety of current chart acts. Bassist Steve Pearce is familiar to 606 audiences from his many appearances with Hamish Stuart among others, but also has a thriving career working with Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Al Jarreau and Everything But The Girl. Drummer Ian Thomas reached stratospheric heights in the popular music world as the drummer of choice for artists including Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood, but is also a 606 regular, appearing with Hamish Stuart, The Tommy Blaize Band, Brandon Allen and Gareth Williams to name but a few.
