The theme for the Los Angeles Jazz Institute’s October festival is The World Series of Big Band Jazz, celebrating big bands from around the world. This concert features two All-Star Big Bands. One is Ted Heath and His Music Big Band led by John Altman with music performed by the Ted Heath Big Band during his 1956 United States tour. The second is the Royal Blue All Star Big Band with Stan Kenton alumni led by Carl Saunders with music performed during the Stan kenton 1956 European tour.
