ONE SHOW ONLY!
THE GATHERING is the latest project of the Clayton Bros (family that is) with Gerald Clayton on piano joining the bill with dad, John Clayton on bass and uncle, Jeff Clayton on alto. Rounding out the quintet is Terell Stafford -trumpet and Obed Calvaire -drums. As John says, “This exciting project will allow us to ‘gather’ new music, new sound combinations and more as we ‘gather’ our friends together ! ”
Their Grammy© nominated quintet The Clayton Brothers, was founded in 1977, and while their paths would sometimes diverge, the brothers continue to share a common musical vision that draws them together. Their CD, "Back in the Swing of Things" (Hyena) demonstrates their unique musical vision and swing. That CD as well as "Expressions" and "Siblingity" (Qwest) are bristling with surprises, delights and the kind of musical telepathy that could only come from tuned in siblings. Their most recent recordings were nominated for Grammy© awards for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group. They are: “Brother to Brother” (ArtistShare, 2009) and their latest release, “The New Songa and Dance” (artistShare, 2010)....
