JAZZ FM, Skopje, Macedonia - no ordinary radio station indeed-bullds its programming based on two top New York stations that successfully present this music with relaxed programming in the daytime and insightful, educational approach in the evening and nighttime.
The entire concept for the radio station was created at the heartbeat of jazz –NEW YORK CITY during our 12 year stay there. It was there that we learned from WBGO in Newark, NJ and WKCR in NYC, which when put together create what we believe is some of the strongest jazz programming in the world. There, also followed a decade of creating both professional and personal relationship with the cutting edge downtown scene and the musicians that create it.This relationship was solidified by recording over 1500 concerts at places like the Knitting Factory, Roulette, CBGB's Gallery, The Cooler, Wetlands, Nuyorican Poets Café, Tonic and dozens of other alternative sports that support this scene. These recordings remain as part of the very unique JAZZ FM archive, and in some cases have been released by Independent labels like Eremite, Aum Fidelity, NoMore Records, Boxholder, Cadence, Knitting Factory.

Now with New York behind us, we moved back to Skopje in August of 1998 and on the 16th of October we had music on the air. Next, followed six months of experimental programming. This period was used to get a feel for the audience and their honest response by not advertising ourselves at all. Then in April 1999 we had expanded our daytime programming only.
By the fall of 1999 we had expanded our daytime programming to the evening and were getting ready for our nighttime special programming. December 1999 marked the official promotion of Radio JAZZ FM which announced the expansion of its active on-air time.
Since the very beginning, JAZZ FM has been involved in the recording and production of many talented people in Macedonia. These names include Simon Trpcevski, Jeunesess Musicales Macedonia Chamber Orchestra, The Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra, the groups SYNTHESIS, SETH, FOLTIN, T.B.TRACHERI, TWO SIDES, PLAN B, WILD BUNCH, the Easter singing at the Bigorski Monastery as well as our world renowned jazz musicians Toni Kitanovski and Zoran Majirov and the Tavitjan Brothers trio. Radio JAZZ FM will continue this activity in the future with strong support of these artists on and off the air.
With the recent increase in club performances of some of these artists, JAZZ FM will help build a new center for the music that marked the 20th century.
