A unique style: El Piano de Chico PĂ©rez There will be those who find “Continente 27” not very flamenco for a genuine Andalusian, there will be those who take it for little jazzy for a boy who allowed himself the audacity to honor the American Dave Grusin with the title of his first LP, "GruserĂas" (2019). And in that apparent lack of definition lies the grace, the singularity. The genius in first person. “Continente 27” is the very plausible consecration of PĂ©rez as one of the figures of the new flamenco jazz. He was born into a family of musicians, which led him to get on stage at the early age of 6. At the age of 28 and after the success of his first work "GruserĂas", of which he sold more than 3,000 records in a tour of almost 60 concerts, the pianist from JaĂ©n has become a revelation of music in our country. It is consolidated with "Continente 27", where artists of the stature of Manuel Lombo, Arcángel, Rosario "La Tremendita", Sandra Carrasco or Antonio Serrano have collaborated. Moments of jazz improvisation, classical compositional structures or soulful melodies intertwine to create a unique style. “Continente 27” has been produced together with his brother, the flamenco guitarist Luis VĂctor PĂ©rez. Together they have created this musical universe in which we will find instruments such as synthesizers, string quartet, electric bass, drums or soul and flamenco voices accompanying the main protagonist, the piano. Within the concert tours that he has carried out in theaters and festivals throughout Spain, he has shared the bill with artists such as Diego Amador, Israel Fernández, Chucho ValdĂ©s, Pat Metheny, Arcángel, Dorantes, Farruquito, Tomatito, Ron Carter, RocĂo Marquez, Andrea Motis, Antonio Lizana, etc. In 2022 he has been nominated at the Music Awards (MIN Awards) in the category of Best Flamenco Album and selected among more than 240 applicants as "Jazz Artist Eñe 2022".
