CLANCYE MILNE is a Melbourne-based, contemporary Jazz vocalist and composer, known for her evocative performances, gracing many of Australia's prestige stages, including Hamer Hall, the Melbourne Recital Centre, Bennetts Lane, Paris Cat Jazz Club, and Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Stonnington Jazz Festival and more. Clancye's deep love for melody and poetry infuses every note, and her jazz sensibilities, combined with impeccable pitch and masterful phrasing, have established her as one of the most compelling voices in the contemporary jazz scene. Her performances carry an authenticity and emotional depth that resonate with listeners, making her one of the standout vocalists in Australia today.
A graduate of Monash University’s Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, Clancye was awarded the 2013 Jazz Prize for Best Vocalist and in 2017 performed at the American Songbook Festival in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. She also furthered her development with a Jazz Intensive at the Californian Jazz Conservatory that same year, and shall certainly return to US jazz stages over time. Her debut with JMQ Jazz Ensemble was that same stellar year.
Clancye’s noteworthy collaborations include sharing a stage with Vince Jones and performing in Gian Slater’s celebrated vocal ensemble, Invenio, featuring Australia's best contemporary and improvising singers, She performed in the MSO Chorus with eminent British conductor, Sir Andrew Davis, and many others. She recorded with the New Leaf Band and later her own vinyl album,The Clancye Milne Octet received complimentary reviews. Her original tune,The River Song was shortlisted for the APRA/AMCOS Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition and when Clancye’s quintet first appeared at Wangaratta Jazz Festival, it solidified her as a standout voice in Australian Jazz..
