Co-led by Latin Grammy Award nominee, guitarist Albare and Grammy Award nominee, pianist Phil Turcio, Urbanity is a band that carries a signature blend of relaxed grooves and melodic interplay.
Their most recent self-titled album was released by US-based label Alfi Records earlier this year. So far, three singles from the album have climbed towards the top of the Smooth Jazz charts in the USA, including an instrumental rendition of The Eagles classic, ‘Desperado’.
Albare doesn't need an introduction to the Melbourne public especially since he opened this very club. Bird's Basement was born out the passion of Albare for music. He is a Latin Grammy Nominee and has been touring the world for 30 years. He played in most clubs in the world and out of that experience we have today Bird's Basement.
Phil Turcio is a pianist, composer and producer who has worked with a variety of music icons, such as Virgil Donati, Jack Jones, Larry Carlton, Richard Marx and of course Albare for the last 28 years.
Urbanity will be joined by two accomplished younger generation players in the Melbourne jazz scene, bassist Kit Riley and drummer Kieran Rafferty.
