2009 he was nominated for the prestigious Deloitte Jazz Award and selected as Artist Deserving Wider
Recognition by Stichting JazzNL. Marzio has played on many stages and festivals in the Netherlands and
the rest of Europe. Some of the more famous venues and festivals where he has played are Bimhuis,
Vredenburg, The Hague Jazz, Jazz in Duketown, East of Eastern Festival, Utrecht Jazz Fest, Amersfoort
Jazz Festival and SJU Jazzpodium. The members of the Marzio Scholten Quartet or Group consists are
extraordinary musicians from the new generation of Dutch contemporary jazz musicians. The
compositions presented by this band are written by guitarist and bandleader Marzio Scholten, and are
characterized by beautiful melodies and contemporary sounds and rhythms. Improvisation also plays a
big role in this music, as well as mixing modern jazz with elements of pop/rock. The music of this group
