Dafnis Prieto (drums) kicks off a weeklong residency at the Frost School of Music with a concert that sets the stage on fire. Prieto is joined by Boris Kozlov (bass), Brian Lynch (trumpet) and the new freshman Stamps Jazz Quintet (class of 2017). Prieto is a Cuban-American bandleader, composer, drummer and educator. He is a 2011 MacArthur Fellow, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2007 Latin Grammy Awards, and his Dafnis Prieto Absolute Quintet was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Latin Jazz Album the same year. He is the recipient of many awards, commissions and accolades.
