"The Sunshine Jazz Concert Series" continues at Avenue D on Sunday, November 24th. The Sunshine Jazz Organization presents a "Double Dose" of world class Jazz vocals featuring Mel Dancy and LeNard Rutledge, for our 4th Sunday monthly series at Avenue D Jazz & Blues Lounge.

Mel Dancy is an accomplished musician on piano, as lyricist and as a multi-stylist. Mel sings Jazz & Blues, Swing & Bossa Nova with the flair and charisma only the best entertainers possess.

Among many accomplishments, Mel arranged a tune for the McGuire Sisters called “I Love You for Sentimental Reasons”, had a 4 year collaboration with The Platters, stints at the Village Vanguard with Thad Jones, Mel Lewis, and the New York Jazz Quartet, and he also wrote with Dizzy Gillespie!...

LeNard Rutledge has been compared to the legendary Lou Rawls as well as the great Kevin Mahogany. His classy elegance is permeated by raw passion and his Overtown, Miami church choir background. A song stylist and songwriter, LeNard can go from Blues to Mainstream to Big Band to Nu Jazz and beyond!
