Adam Rossmiller is a freelance trumpeter currently residing in Minneapolis, MN. He is an active performer and educator in both the classical and jazz idioms around the Twin Cities area. Notably, he has worked with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, The Air Force Notables, JazzMN, The Hornheads, Pete Whitman’s X-tet, The Summit Hill Brass Quintet, and The Bach Society of MN. In 2005, Adam helped to found Snowblind, an original jazz quintet. Snowblind has recorded two CD’s, performs regularly at the Dakota jazz club, and is involved in jazz education giving clinics and performances in Minnesota schools. He is also an original member of G8, a hip-hop group that has one CD, Run With It, to its credit and performs at a variety of venues in the Twin Cities.
Currently, Adam is teaching the trumpet studio, jazz ensembles, and an arranging course at Gustavus Adolphus College as a sabbatical replacement. He also was the interim director of jazz band at St. Cloud State University during the ’04-’05 school year, has been a teaching assistant in trumpet, jazz ensembles, and jazz theory at the University of Minnesota, and continues to maintain a private studio. Adam earned a D.M.A. and M.M. from the University of Minnesota as well as a B.M. in jazz studies from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. Adam has had the opportunity to study with some of world’s finest trumpeters and all around musicians, including David Baldwin, Alan Hood, Gary Bordner, Ron Miles, Joseph Docksey, Malcolm Lynn Baker, David Hanson, Eric Gunnison, and Manny Laureano.
Saxophonist and composer Aaron Hedenstrom has been composing, arranging, and performing music professionally for over a decade. Aaron has performed across the United States as a jazz saxophonist, clinician, and composer.
At age 26, Aaron has received many awards for his compositions and arrangements, including the Herb Alpert ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award, the Detroit Jazz Festival Composition Contest, Downbeat Awards, and the Jazz Education Network Student Composer Showcase. Aaron has written numerous big band works, string arrangements, small group pieces, and chamber works. Some of his collaborations have included the University of North Texas One O’Clock Lab Band, renowned singer Marlene Verplanck, and Starbucks artist of the week S. Carey. Aaron has done MIDI production work for Happy Days actor/musician Don Most for an upcoming performance series. In addition, Aaron has recorded and performed with his own big band, the Aaron Hedenstrom Orchestra.
As a saxophone performing artist, Aaron has received numerous Downbeat Awards, including the 2013 Downbeat Award for “Best Graduate Jazz Soloist.” He has been featured as a guest artist by universities such as Wichita State University and Eastern Washington University. Aaron has performed at top-tier jazz venues nationwide including the Dakota Jazz Club, Snug Harbor, the Next Generation Jazz Festival, Scat Jazz Lounge, and others. Most recently Aaron was awarded the BMI Future Jazz Master Scholarship created to to benefit emerging jazz performers.
