Kristin Sponcia is a student in the Doctorate of Musical Arts Program at University of IL-Champaign Urbana, specializing in Jazz Vocal Performance.She is back in Minnesota for a few months and is excited to be performing with Phil Mattson at JCS. She specializes in unique interpretations of jazz standards and contemporary favorites. In January 2015, she was presented with the Mary Jo Papich Women in Jazz Scholarship, sponsored by the Jazz Education Network (JEN). Kristin was a member of the Phil Mattson Singers from 2008-2010 and performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall with this group in April 2010.Her Quartet performed at the Twin Cities Hot Summer Jazz Festival in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
