The Will Schmid Trio is an ever-evolving improvisational project headed by up-and-coming guitarist Will Schmid. Returning to the Twin Cities for the summer is Jesse Thorson, who has been living and studying in New York for the past year. Frequent collaborator and bassist Tyler Wagner will also join the trio. Under the tutelage of greats like Chris Olson, Tony Moreno, and Chris Bates, these youthful -- yet seasoned -- improvisers have developed unique sounds with which they craft inspiring originals and fresh takes on jazz standards. Cited influences include Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, Elvin Jones, and Dave Holland.
