Jon Wood Jazz Central StudiosJon Wood initially began playing guitar in 2005. Jon started learning pop and blues, and quickly moved on to Jazz and has now added singing to his musical accomplishments. Jon will perform in the first set and then will accompany singer Connie Olson for the second set. Connie is a veteran of the Twin Cities music scene and will be delving into the American Songbook. A perfect pairing!

Vocalist Connie Olson grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the age of 17, she began her career as lead singer with many of the area’s top local bands. In the 1980’s, Connie moved to Los Angeles where she studied at the Dick Grove School of Music and worked many of LA’s leading venues. Connie has performed with many of the world’s top musicians including the Peter Duchin Big Band, the Peter Graves Orchestra, and musicians from the Manhattan Transfer, The Brian Setzer Band, and the bands of Prince and Madonna, to name just a few....

Connie Olson Jazz Central StudiosConnie’s voice has been heard on broadcast recordings of countless radio and TV commercials as well as the theme song for TV series “The Action Family”. Connie was featured on the CD “Ultrasound”, by former Prince keyboardist Matt “Dr.” Fink.

Connie Olson has also been in demand as a clinician at institutions like the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. During the Fall of 2002, she toured U.S. colleges and music schools with the acclaimed Vibraphonist, Bill Molenhof.

Connie completed her first CD—“Daydreaming”—with keyboardist Benny Weinbeck in Minneapolis. The disc is a tribute to Doris Day and features songs from Doris’ classic 1964 collaboration with pianist Andre Previn. Connie is currently working on another CD with Beach Boys keyboard ace Tim Bonhomme in Los Angeles.

Connie’s diverse interests have taken her on a wide-ranging musical journey—from Pop to Rock, Rhythm & Blues and Jazz. Today she continues to perform at clubs, concert halls, and corporate events across the country.
