A legend among jazz guitarists, Mundell Lowe's name is not exactly a household word with the general public. Born in Mississippi and working briefly in Nashville, he went to New Orleans where he began his jazz career. From there it was on to New York where he worked with jazz greats Billie Holiday, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Helen Humes and Charles Mingus, to name but a few.
During the 50's he also began a long career playing and writing for television and films, working with George Duvivier on bass and Ed Shaughnessy on drums in Dave Garroway’s "Today Show" studio band. He also played with the extraordinary pianist Hank Jones when they both worked in the NBC and CBS orchestras of the early Fifties. After seventeen years at NBC as a guitarist and arranger, Lowe was transferred to the News and Special Events Department to work as a composer.
He returned to performing in the 1980's, and has appeared with artists including Ron Carter, Al Foster, Bill Mays, Ray Drummond, André Previn, and Ray Brown. Mundell still has many close friends and musical associates from his days in Nashville, and has returned here several times to perform and record.

Jim Ferguson was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, but moved to South Carolina before his second birthday. His father was the music director of a large metropolitan church, and Jim began singing in the childrens' choir when he was four years old. He also began piano lessons with the church organist. Singing was his main musical focus through high school, but just before graduation, Jim bought his first string bass.
As the bass player for NPR's "The American Popular Singer", with Eileen Farrell, Jim performed with the likes of the great Joe Williams and pianist Marian McPartland. In 1979, he began lessons with bassist Michael Moore in New York City and studied and played with bassist Red Mitchell. Eventually returning to South Carolina and earning a Master of Music Degree, Jim has been a staple of the Nashville music scene since the early 80's and has performed with countless artists across multiple genres, including such jazz artists as Teddy Wilson, Kenny Burrell, Mose Allison, and Stephane Grappelli - as well as a long partnership with country/pop artist Crystal Gayle. He is faculty at both NJW and MTSU.
In 2007, Mundell and Jim released a duo recording,"Haunted Heart"

Joining Mundell and Jim will be the brilliant drummer Jim White, himself a longtime veteran of Nashville music scene. White is currently Associate Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado.
The show will start at 8PM and will consist of two sets. Tickets for this special concert event are $25 each / $15 for high school and college students with ID and go on sale by phone at 242-5299 on Monday, July 16, 10AM. Advance Reservations are highly recommended.
