Rod McGaha releases his new CD entitled The Black Flower Project, A project of original material written by Rod McGaha. Along with Rod will be Nioshi Jackson on drums, Jerry Navarro on bass, Jody Nardone on piano and Don Aliquo on Tenor Sax. There will also be special guests, so come on out! The first 50 people to purchase tickets for the 7:00pm or the 9:30pm show will receive a free CD along with the ticket price. ABOUT THE CD

Opening with the tune The Challenge immediately showcases his frequently praised skills as a hard bop trumpeter. His group not only challenges him, but also spurs the song to the point of being out and out explosive. The CD is comprised of McGaha’s originals, but it does include a fresh and cinematic take on the classic, Here's That Rainy Day. The vocalists Julie Lee and Dara Tucker color the outing with rich voices and sensitive phrasings on the tunes Wish I Knew and Mama Said. The title song Black Flower gives the album a Coltrane-esque, majestic, soulful beauty. And, it is an easy bet that McGaha's lovely ballad, Lullaby is sure to make it to more than a few playlists. A contemporary branding is set for the CD with the song When I Was Growin' Up, which features a brilliant and personal rap performance by the heralded new lyricist, OpenMic.
