When NJW Co-Founder & Director Roger Spencer decided it was time to headline another performance in the series, he asked himself, what could be better than a bass player leading the ensemble? The answer of course: two bass players!

And who could be better for the second chair than Roger's former prize student from Vanderbilt, Michael Rinne. Since his student days, Mike has become a phenomenal bassist who has learned well from his mentor and has gone on to develop his own distinctive voice. He's also one of the hottest bassists around, recording or performing with the likes of Jack White, Alicia Keys, Kim Richie, Rodney Crowell, Sheryl Crow . . . and the list goes on and on. Mike is also a first-call jazz bassist: a member of the acclaimed Chester Thompson Trio, he has also performed with Annie Sellick, Chris Walters, Jeff Coffin, the Nashville Jazz Orchestra, and many others.
