Scordatura Ensemble presents the early chamber music by the adventurous American pioneer Harry Partch who invented his own instruments and tuning systems in the Californian desert in the early 1930’s. Scordatura has copies of Partch’s self-built instruments such as the Kithara, the Adapted Guitars, the Mazda Marimba and the Diamond Marimba. This is a unique chance to see them and to hear Partch’s music!
Furthermore, we invited eight composers from now to write an answer to Partch’s Li Po Songs. In these delicate miniature songs about love and longing he explored and refined his style and ideas....
