Gina Vodegel Writing Affairs

My cradle swayed gently in an ancient and historical town in the Netherlands, down south in Maastricht. Residing just a few kilometers across the border in a very very small Belgian village now, -a stone's throw away from the French speaking side of Belgium-, life's a truly multicultural experience if my internet journeys count as well! My native tongue may be Dutch, it's not the language of my soul nor mind.

Writing came as a second nature, as well as music. As an enthusiastic highschool drop- out, I tried and tasted various things in life but never forsake my passion for writing. It wasn't until in my early thirties when I decided to finish an education in PR & Communications and laughed my socks off when I could finally show a piece of paper to validate my (or any) expertise in whatever field... should anyone bother to ask, right? Nobody ever did, or I never bothered to travel in circles where paper credentials matter more than the “action speaks louder than words” credo, if even so this seems to contradict the very essence of my bare necessities in life.

Having tasted and disliked the mentality in the corporate world, I abandoned a “secure and stabile life”, quit a stifling fulltime job and started as a freelance copy-writer and journalist in 2000. Since then I've managed to combine work with pleasure and let serendipity provide for the surprising elements in life...
