Reeds And Deeds at Mahogany Hall

"Reeds & Deeds", began as a one-off happening around Rahsaan Roland Kirk's music.

Both Alex Coke and Frans Vermeerssen (who previously collaborated in the Willem Breuker Kollectief) released albums of music from this striking and vital multi-instrumentalist from the 60's and 70's. In addition to being a driven and inventive improvisor (he played several saxophones at the same time) Kirk was also a gracious composer of catchy themes.
Saxophonist Bo van de Graaf is also a great lover of Kirk's music, and for this purpose, a concert at BreBL was composed of the Reeds and Deeds group, with the extraordinary rhythm section of Michiel Braam, Arjen Gorter, and Makki van Engelen....
