Adam Machaskee is a first year graduate jazz trombone major at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts where he currently studies with professor Conrad Herwig and New York area professional Andy Hunter. Originally from Cleveland Ohio, Adam has also studied with Cleveland area professionals such as Mark Russo, Paul Ferguson, and Rick Stout. Adam Machaskee earned his Undergraduate degree in Jazz Trombone from University of Cincinnati’s College – Conservatory of music. There he studied with professors Marc Fields, Tim Anderson, and Kim Pensyl. He currently performs with the top Rutgers jazz ensembles including a jazz combo directed by Victor Lewis, the Scarlet Knights Jazz Trombone Ensemble and the Rutgers Jazz Ensemble I directed by Charles Tolliver. Adam has also performed with the Case Western Reserve Settlement Jazz Orchestra, IAJE All-Star Collegiate Band, JECO All-Star Collegiate Jazz Band, Dayton Jazz Orchestra, Blue Wisp Big Band, and Pat Kelly’s Psycho-Acoustic Orchestra. He has performed on stage professionally with such artists as Ken Peplowski, Don Braden, Jon Von Ohlen, and Rufus Reid. Adam was also named the First Alternate in the 2009 International Trombone Association’s (ITA) J.J. Johnson Jazz Trombone Competition, First Alternate in the 2010 ITA Carl Fontana Jazz Trombone Competition, and First Alternate in the 2010 Eastern Trombone Workshop Jazz Soloist Competition.
