As a member of the Board of Directors for the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, he’ll be joining Herbie for a virtual celebration of International Jazz Day on April 30th. And as we look toward the future and the return of live events, Marcus is anticipating the return of Black Movie Music at the Hollywood Bowl, the fourth installment of the successful series (which he co-created, co-produces, arranges, and musical directs) that catalogs the rich history of music in Black film.

In 2022, Marcus composed the score for the documentary film SIDNEY for Apple TV+, produced by Oprah Winfrey, that told the story of legendary actor, filmmaker and iconic civil rights activist, Sidney Poitier.
