[The Nora McCarthy Sextet

The Nora McCarthy Sextet is an organic jazz group that takes a modern approach to contemporary, classic standards and blues that is engagingly in the moment. Her original music has an impressionistic, poetic quality that shows an awareness of post-bop developments reminiscent of the early Blue Note recordings of the 1960s, '70s and '80s. Its members are among the most innovative improvisers in the world. Drawing from the roots of the art form, their enlivening repertoire is a tapestry of original music, contemporary jazz, classic jazz, Blues and free music art forms. Alto saxophonist Jorge Sylvester and McCarthy have a symbiotic chemistry that is enthralling.

Nora will be performing music from her various CDs including original music from George Brandon and the Blue Unity Ensemble's recent release, Toward the Hill of Joy, featuring Ms. McCarthy as well as select Standards artfully arranged.
