The list of those Josh Evans has played and record with is long and impressive (http://joshevansmusic.com/bio). Back in the days of the Winard Harper Sextet, Josh Evans spent over three years in Winard’s Band, and got to hold the trumpet chair on the 2006 album Make It Happen.
Just like Winard, Josh had studied with Jacky McLean at the University of Hartford, Connecticut, the town where Josh was born and raised. It was through Jacky McLean that the doors opened for Josh to the Blue Note, the Iridium and other legendary New York clubs at that time. After the Harper Sexted, the Josh Evans evolution continued with a two-year stint as part of the Rashied Ali Quintet, touring all over the world and as of 2009 performing under his own name and the recording of two albums, “Portrait” in 2011 and the recent “Hope and Despair”.
