Jazz House Kids (JHK) was founded in 2002 with a mission to enhance the quality of life for young people, their families, and teachers through the medium of jazz. JHK has developed into a multi-faceted arts education organization that uses jazz as an exciting and essential teaching tool. Our innovative, multidisciplinary approach helps students understand and appreciate jazz and its rich cultural legacy, while actively helping to fill the gap in music education in our schools and cultivate tomorrow’s responsible global citizens and community leaders.

JHK provides a wide range of creative and tested programming targeted at grades K-12 that is aimed at boosting achievement and providing enrichment for students from chronically underperforming schools. Our programs incorporate New Jersey’s stringent Core Curriculum Content Standards for Performing Arts, Career Education, and Consumer, Family and Life Skills along with its Standards for Required Professional Development of Teachers. Since 2002, JHK has served more than 13,500 New Jersey public school students and over 700 teachers and administrators, mostly from urban centers.
