Billy was born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield like Mayer, these parallels only adding fuel to the fire of his fandom. As he started incorporating more Mayer covers into his solo acoustic performances, Billy recognized that much of the local community felt a strong personal connection to him and his music as well. The idea of getting a band together to perform his material live was exciting, and Billy knew he was in the perfect area to do it. He formed a John Mayer tribute project that year with their debut performance being a sold out show at The Acoustic in Bridgeport, a venue that Mayer himself played in his younger years.Five years later, with a wealth of experience under his belt playing the music of John Mayer, his live tribute project continues under the title Born and Raised. This name reflects what is special about this group- it was started in and for the same community that Mayer was brought up in.
