PAULA ATHERTON has loved music all her life and first became active in grade school in the chorus as well as picking up flute in fourth grade. After getting an alto sax in her teens, her attention turned to jazz. She gleaned much of her playing fluidity from studying the phrasing and techniques of everyone from singer Billie Holiday to saxophonist Lester Young. PAULA ATHERTON studied with some notable teachers in the Lennie Tristano “school of players,” and practiced countless hours a day, as she still does today. Ultimately her influences swing between a wide range of players including Charlie “Bird” Parker, Lee Konitz, Cannonball Adderley, Phil Woods, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn and Bob Mintzer....

PAULA ATHERTON is finishing up the final tracks on her brand new CD - the follow up to her smash release "Enjoy the Ride" - and she promises to be debuting much of that music for the very first time at this show at HOME Restaurant!

BILL HELLER is perhaps best known as the keyboard player with smooth jazz super-group (the) Rippingtons. He has just released his own solo collection, the excellent ‘Find The Way’. It fuses together jazz of varying complexions through the combined talents of guest performers (and Rippingtons band-mates) Jeff Kashiwa, Rico Belled and Dave Karasony plus fine work from Eric Marienthal Ronnie Gutierrez, Joel Rosenblatt and Dave Anderson.
