This first event of the Puerto Rican cultural series Senderos: Puerto Rico en la Isla y Mรกs Allรก, will be a celebration of Puerto Rican Jazz on Yaleโs campus taking place in Sudler Hall.
We are thrilled to welcome the incredible Puerto Rican saxophonist Jonathan Suazo and his group for an unforgettable evening of music. Mr. Suazo is one of the fastest-growing names in contemporary music. His performances are known for their โmaturity and depthโ and his abilities are โwell beyond his yearsโ. Having released 2 powerful, genre-bending albums as a leader, and appearing on more than 9 others as a sideman, Mr. Suazo is one of the most prolific young recording artists to come out of Puerto Rico in recent years. His long list of collaborations includes such renowned musicians as Paoli Mejias, Tony Escapa, Eddie Gomez, William Cepeda, Humberto Ramรญrez, Luis Aquino, Miguel Zenรณn, David Sรกnchez, Charlie Sepulveda, Tito Matos, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ricardo Pons, Calma Carmona, Eric Figueroa, Luis Marรญn, Ricky Rodriguez, Alex Alvear, Gonzalo Grau, John Secada, and many others. In addition, Suazo and his band, MรKSHA, have performed at some of the biggest Jazz events in the Caribbean, including the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Fest. Mr. Suazo is currently studying at the revolutionary Berklee Global Jazz Institute, under the direction of piano giant Danilo Pรฉrez. With an impressive career well on track, and remarkable musical sensibilities to guide him, Jonathan Suazo is definitely one to watch in the coming years....
