Sunna Gunnlaugs Trio at The Side Door Jazz Club

On June 20th the Icelandic jazz pianist Sunna Gunnlaugs will be making a stop at The Side Door in Old Lyme with her trio as part of their bi-coastal North American tour.
Gunnlaugs has been described as a pianist who combines elements of American and European concepts. Her trio's sound is open and transparent, while at the same time rhythmic and flowing, with the emphasis always on melody.
The trio (Sunna Gunnlaugs - piano, Þorgrímur Jónsson - bass, Scott McLemore - drums) was named the 2013 Official Band of Reykjavik, and the latest album Distilled is nominated in 4 categories for the Icelandic Music Awards.
