Pecos Valley Jazz & Arts Festival
The Pecos Valley Jazz & Arts Festival will hold a jazz concert at the Performing Arts Center on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University,Roswell on Friday, October 11, 2008, beginning at 7 pm.
The concert will headline saxophonist Houston Person and includes a stellar roster of jazz artists: Roger Dickerson, John Sheridan, Holly Hoffman, Randy Sandke, John Cocuzzi, the Latin band, “Azucar”, Nikki Parrott, Warren Vache, Ricky Malichi, Rebecca Kilgore, Tana, Hutson, Barrett, Borton, Pepe Carmona, Judy Day, Michael Francis, Eddie Erickson, Simon and more.
Other events during the weekend will include a School of Jazz for aspiring teen musicians facilitated by the above “faculty” and an Academy of Art with prizes awarded for jazz-related work. There are large and small venues throughout the weekend, both free and ticketed. The Festival closes with an ecumenical gospel-jazz service and gumbo lunch Sunday morning and an afternoon concert, “It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got that Swing!”
Directions: Roswell, NM is located at the intersection of Highways 70 and 285. To reach the ENMU-Roswell campus travel south on South Main to the campus. The Performing Arts Center is located adjacent to the south parking lot on the west side.
