15th annual Smith Dobson Youth Jazz Festival!

San Jose Jazz features one of its longest-running education programs as part of Winter Fest. On Saturday, March 12, middle school, high school, and community college jazz bands from California will gather for an adjudicated music education event. The festival is a tribute to Smith Dobson, a great jazz musician and beloved music educator who was a key figure in early San Jose music education programs. He was an important figure in the Bay Area music world and contributed as a musician and educator until his tragic death in 2001. The Smith Dobson Youth Festival is an annual competition for Middle and High School musicians. Hundreds of performers from local schools have the opportunity to meet nationally known adjudicators and to obtain music scholarship awards and several other prizes.
This year's adjudicator is Wayne Wallace
Eligibility - Combos from middle schools and high schools.
Format - 1 day. 8 am to 4 pm. 45 minute slots (inlcuding the on-stage clinic)
