Raised in Newark, New Jersey, the youngest of 7 children, Antoinette Montague was introduced to music by her mother, who was always singing and sounded a lot like Ella Fitzgerald. She graduated from Rutgers University Campus in Newark where she felt a connection to Paul Robeson. “I remember the first time I heard his voice. It was almost like he was singing directly to me”.
