Special guest bandmates from Metropolitan Klezmer & more join sister sextet Isle of Klezbos for our 13th annual KlezBiGay Pride show, held once again at delightful El Sol Brillante community garden in the East Village: FREE! This year, we honor the Triangle Fire centenary with Yiddish ballads from the 1911 tragedy as well as celebratory music from the Barsh klezmer dynasty of that era, plus genre-bending, newly-minted 21st century band repertoire. Both our bands originated in this neighborhood, and we remember the many garment factory workers & families who once made their homes here too -- including drummer/bandleader Eve Sicular's grandfather: Joseph Bronstein's birth certificate shows he was born on this very block, just two doors down from what is now the garden site, with his father's 1898 occupation listed as 'capmaker.' All ages and persuasions welcome: look for the phantasmagorical wrought-iron fence, food & drink permitted (but no visitor pets inside the garden please). Live music from 7PM until 9PM. Garden luxuriance also before & after. In case of rain, indoor locaton TBA....
