Kendra Shank/John Stowell Project at 55 Bar

Vocalist Kendra Shank continues her monthly series at the 55 Bar with visiting guitarist John Stowell, from Portland, OR and Brazilian percussionist Rogerio Boccato. Acclaimed for his masterful tone and original voicings, Stowell has performed and recorded with David Friesen, David Liebman, and Paul Horn, among many others. Boccato has played with Carlos Jobim, Milton Nascimento, Joe Zawinul, Joe Lovano, and Brian Blade, to name just a few. In the 1990's when Shank lived in the Pacific Northwest, she and Stowell were frequent collaborators, and their reunion on Friday, May 25 at the 55 Bar will preview material for an upcoming duo recording, including compositions by Stowell, Shank, Fred Hersch, Irving Berlin, Abbey Lincoln, plus open improvisations and re-imaginings of jazz standards. ...
