Manhattan Bones features the unique instrumentation four trombones (doubling on alto trombone, alto flugelhorn and didgeridoo), along with a three-piece rhythm section. The ensemble, led by Scott Reeves, include some of the top-call musicians in New York whose experiences include work with the Dave Liebman Big Band, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, Bill Evans, Pat Martino, John Abercrombie and the Vanguard Orchestra. Sounding like a pared-down big band, their book of over 60 tunes focuses on music of great trombonists such as J.J. Johnson and Bob Brookmeyer, often featuring 4-way harmonizations of these artist
