Tony Moreno applies his sometimes sweet, sometimes bombastic drumming styles to his heavy-hitting, horn-fired 21st Century hard bop quintet. This protege of Elvin Jones has made his home at the 55 Bar for more than a decade. Tonight he celebrates the release of his new CD, a record which pays homage to the late Queva Lutz, who transformed the lives of many musicians and turned the 55 Bar into what it is today: a destination spot for serious jazz listeners and students of the music.
