Join us for the long-anticipated release of Mulberry Street, the debut album of Jeff Fairbanks' Project Hansori. With the album recorded in late 2009, and carefully edited over time, this event is over 18 months in the making. The venue, Moldy Fig, is a brand-new Jazz club in Manhattan's Lower East Side, that ---like Project Hansori--- is preparing for a grand opening of its own. The club is a work of art in itself, with a themed interior of strictly brick, wood, and brass, and a high ceiling over a great acoustic room.
JEFF FAIRBANKS' PROJECT HANSORI
An exciting new sound of Asian folk music mixed with modern Jazz, 17-piece Jeff Fairbanks' Project Hansori (Korean for "one sound") performs the all original music of its leader. An in-demand composer and performer, and a recognized talent, Fairbanks has won national awards and recognition from ASCAP, BMI, IAJE, and numerous competitive grants from the American Music Center and the Queens Council on the Arts. Here we will celebrate the release of Project Hansori's debut recording, Mulberry Street, on the Brooklyn Jazz Underground Records label. Featuring a cast of 22 musicians including guest bari saxophonist Fred Ho, this album of Fairbanks' original compositions and arrangements fuses East and West in an imaginative new setting.
