When one speaks of great female pianist-vocalists like Nina Simone, Shirley Horn or Laura Nyro who entered and changed the jazz/Soul-landscape remarkably, it soon becomes obvious that what unifies them most is not their unquestionable techniques at the piano and the expressiveness of their voices.
