49th Annual Hampton Jazz Festival at Hampton Coliseum

Friday’s show features one of the greatest female performers ever – Miss Gladys Knight. She could probably sing for 2 hours and do nothing but hits – so Festival fans are sure to hear all of their favorites. Making a demand repeat performance will be Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Last year was his first appearance at the HJF, and it left the audience breathless. Also appearing will be Festival favorite Michael McDonald whose soulful voice can do the “Motown” sound with the best of them. Rounding out the show will be Leela James.

Saturday’s show features a true super group that has never before appeared at the HJF – New Edition. Composed of 5 of the greatest R&B singers of our day, the group will perform a set that will leave the audience screaming for more. Also appearing will be Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds – whose new hit single “We Got Love” is at the top of the charts. Festival newcomer, Judith Hill is sure to impress – her new single “Cry, Cry, Cry” is one of the hottest songs on radio. Making their third HJF opening appearance is Forte Jazz Band feat. Sunday’s show is one of the strongest shows ever presented by the HJF. Headlining will be HJF favorite Charlie Wilson. Charlie keeps amazing his fans with single after single, album after album – and a live performance second to none. Also appearing will be festival favorite Stephanie Mills. Boney James will get the crowd going with his famous smooth jazz sounds. Local fans will also delight in this year’s Sunday opener Joselyn Best.
