A marvelous melding of samba and jazz, this Brazilian import was the hippest sound of the 1950s and '60s, made heroes of artists like composer Antonio Carlos Jobim and guitarist João Gilberto, and was embraced by American jazz masters like Stan Getz and Charlie Byrd.
