The Gregg Gelb Jazz Quartet featuring long time Triangle saxophonist/clarinetist and band leader Gregg Gelb, and featuring his son Chris on drums, along with Chris’ former colleagues from UNCG, Thomas Linger and Charlton Provatas, will perform music from their new CD, Road Trip, at C. Grace in downtown Raleigh on Oct. 4 at 9pm. Chris Gelb now lives in NYC and works regularly with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks and many NYC jazz groups. The CD was recorded in November 2015. The young lions in the rhythm section; Thomas Linger on piano, Charlton Provatas on bass and Chris Gelb on drums are excellent accompanists for Gregg Gelb, who wrote most of tunes on the CD. The group plays with a lot of energy and their bebop style is very accessible. The performance and release of their first CD takes place at C. Grace. There is no cover charge.
