Sørnorsk jazzsenter (Southern Norway Jazz Centre) founded in 1998 is a regional promotion and service center for jazz, covering the southern counties of Norway: Vest-Agder, Aust-Agder and Telemark. The Jazz Center's mandate is to promote jazz and related genres, primarily through concerts, and to create knowledge and interest for these music forms throughout the region. Through concerts and concert tours, SNJS promotes jazz on a high artistic level to a broad audience. Important areas are the stimulation of local concert productions, strengthening of the region's professional music scene, education of the non-professional music environment, stimulating young jazz-interested musicians through providing and supporting playing and instruction activities, support and services for regional concert promoters and artists, information activities and advisory functions
