Rizzoli Music Aperitivo presents 13 1/2 — Federico Fellini & Nino Rota, Tredici Bacci Style.
Rizzoli was founded in 1964 by Milanese entrepreneur Angelo Rizzoli, producer of classic films like Fellini’s 8½. This special anniversary edition of Rizzoli Music Aperitivo with New York–based ensemble Tredici Bacci pays tribute to our roots in Italian cinema.
Tickets include a glass of wine and a 15% store discount that day. This event is mixed seated/standing. Seats are first come, first served. Doors open at 4:45 pm.
Founded in 2013 and led by composer Simon Hanes, New York-based large ensemble Tredici Bacci performs outrageous, joyous, and cinematic music. Over the past ten years, the ensemble has become known for their Italian soundtrack-inspired style, playing raucous shows in bars, galleries, and concert halls and leaving a trail of Campari bottles, confetti, and whipped cream in their wake. RIZZOLI MUSIC APERITIVO
From Francis Scott Fitzgerald to Jack Kerouac, from Toni Morrison to James Baldwin, from Philip Michael Ondaatje to Geoff Dyer, from Julio Cortazar to Boris Vian, from Amiri Baraka and Ishmael Reed to Jayne Cortez, the list of international writers and poets inspired or intrigued by jazz and other musical genres goes on. Since New York City’s Rizzoli Bookstore has a long tradition of building bridges between arts genres, international scenes, and creative people, we wanted to turn our gorgeous space in NoMad into an experimental living room where live jazz and other music can be enjoyed. Rizzoli Music Aperitivo is sponsored by Field Blend Selections and is curated by Mondo Jazz, the weekly Radio Free Brooklyn show dedicated to international jazz.
