Fighter Planes and Praying Mantis is a 5tet playing music from the hardcore punk tradition and blending it with original compositions. The jazz foundation of the band's sound gives the music the possibility to explore a wide range of timbres and dynamics through composition and improvisation. Weiss sings through some classic covers such as Minor Threat's Filler and Black Sabbath's N.I.B. voicing the sound of hard rock and roll and maintaining that line throughout the band's sound.
