NEW YORK, New York (April 7, 2016) – On Saturday, May 7, vocalist/composer Aubrey Johnson and her band return to Greenwich Village’s beloved Cornelia St. Café for two sets, following a sold-out show at the venue’s Vocal Fest earlier this year.

Aubrey, who is known for her "ethereal" and "hauntingly intimate” voice (Downbeat Magazine), and her unique ability to both use her voice as an instrument and to masterfully deliver a lyric, will premiere original music that will ultimately appear on her debut album on Greg Osby’s Inner Circle Music label.

Johnson’s band, working together since 2012, features some of the New York jazz scene’s top young talent, including Tomoko Omura (violin), Michael Sachs (sax/bass clarinet), Chris Ziemba (piano), Matt Aronoff (bass), and Jeremy Noller (drums). A multi-faceted artist, Aubrey also sings in Sara Serpa’s City Fragments, performs with avant-garde musical theater composer Marisa Michelson, and most recently toured with John Zorn’s Mycale vocal quartet and recorded on Andrew Rathbun’s large ensemble album featuring drummer Bill Stewart and trumpeter Tim Haggans.

Cornelia Street Café is located at 21 Cornelia Street, New York, NY. Doors open at 8:30pm, sets at 9:00pm and 10:30pm, with a cover of $10. Known for hosting New York’s most enticing and provocative acts, Cornelia Street Café has been deemed by the city of New York “a culinary as well as a cultural landmark.”
